Growth Without Jobs; Ticking Time Bombs Or Teeming Transformational Brains?

According to the World Bank, Youth account for 60% of all African unemployed. Almost 60% of Africa’s population in 2019 is under the age of 25, making Africa the world’s youngest continent.

The unemployment rate for that region is 6%, according to the AfDB with a world’s average of about 5%. But the problem is that in most African countries, youth unemployment “occurs at a rate more than twice that for adults”.

If the energies and ambitions of Africa’s youth continue to be wasted, they could become serious destabilizing forces, threatening not only just future progress, but rolling back the gains of recent years.

The innovation economy creates enabling and inclusive environment for Africa youths to have deep sense of belonging and be able to develop their full potentials through the innovation factories (MSMEs, venture labs, start-ups, incubators etc.) that are been facilitated and supported by Afrinnovation through the Afrinnovators Network in collaboration with partners and other innovation practitioners and organizations around the world.

Innovative Citizen-Centricity and Inclusiveness

In order to attain and maintain stability in Africa, also to engender the much needed growth and transformation of the socio-economic domain in the continent, concerted effort by all stakeholders (policy makers, industry leaders, academia etc) must be geared toward innovation and digital transformation of public administration and essential services.

Citizen engagement, participation and deeper understanding of the needs of the citizens (Citizen Insights) are key drivers of transformational innovations, Afrinnovation program and solution are designed to assist governments, industry leaders and other stakeholders to develop and facilitate these capabilities for the betterment of the society.

Technology Transfer and Innovation Diffusion

Socio-economic developments are accelerated through the transfer of technology and innovation capabilities. MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) industries and the educational sector are the backbone of the innovation economy through which external and internal innovation diffusion help create positive and sustainable growth and profitability.

The AI-powered Afrinnovation solutions help to foster symbiotic relationship and tight integration of the academia, government, industry and environment in the development and commercialization of viable ideas, discoveries and researches for job creation and economic growth. These also serve as venture labs for start-ups and spin-offs in maximizing the innovation capabilities of the African youth.

Afrinnovation also facilitates regional development by enabling international cooperation on technology and innovation transfer.

The Future of Government and Public Service

How will technologies, innovations and unknown pandemics shape the future of government and public administration. These forces will characterize government and service delivery in many ways (models) such as decentralization of power and self-organized communities; high collaboration and co-creation between citizens, governments and other stakeholders; giant digital companies holding power over citizens and governments; over-protection by the government through the creation of too many regulations with the help of technology etc

With the advent of covid-19, the planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling of government operations have been disrupted and are being transformed irreversibly by external, internal and unpredictable events. The future of government is hinged on its ability to preserve the present and position for the future events through citizen-centric policies/programs, and future-oriented solutions that simultaneously align sustainability tactics and future scenario plans.

Join us as we discuss the know-hows, best practices and latest solutions that are enabling the future of government and public service for stability, sustainability and growth.

Innovation Efficiency – How to Assess and Measure Innovation Impact Across Africa

To successfully drive socio-economic growth of the African regions, the impact and value realization of regional innovation programs and initiatives have to be assessed beyond perception and media news to using verifiable, demonstrable, on-the-ground facts and data built on tested and advanced innovation metrics. The combination of evidence-based, data-driven and system-oriented approach is key for sustainable value realization. The development of these regions through innovation would require tight integration of innovation management and impact measurement with governance, education, entrepreneurship and the society.

For global competitiveness, many nations are moving away from an industrial model of production towards a knowledge-based economy, therefore economics of innovation has become more and more relevant as it aims for rapid development and commercialization of ideas, open innovation, and how to facilitate forward-thinking policies which will create efficient innovation ecosystem for sustainable growth and profitability.

Afrinnovation helps governments, international agencies, businesses, academia, entrepreneurs and professional by using the unique approach of the combination of evidence-based, data-driven and system-oriented methodologies for sustainable value realization in the region.

Moreover, this approach would gauge impact and growth of regional innovation beyond assumption and perception, by engaging the use of verifiable and demonstrable on-the-ground facts and credible data with the aid of novel innovation management platforms that are AI-powered like Innovation360’s Innosurvey, Ideation360, PESTLED360, Scenario360 etc.

Coming up soon is our sub-region innovation index report bench-marked against global innovation index.
